A state opens when its rules have been reviewed by a licensed attorney in that state and a partner attorney is confirmed. Until then, requests for that state are recorded and nothing is served or filed.
What a case costs
Three kinds of charge, each listed on its own line: our platform fee, the attorney’s fee, and the court and service costs.
| Item | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee, case that starts at the notice | $29 | The platform fee for a case that starts at the notice: intake checks, generating the notice, and coordinating its attorney review and its service, with status at every step. The cost of serving the notice itself will be billed at cost. |
| Platform fee, case filed in court | $99 | The platform fee in total for a case filed in court. If the case started at the notice, the $29 notice fee will be credited, so you will pay $70 more when it goes to court. The platform fee for a case that starts at filing will be $99. |
| Attorney fee | Set by the attorney | A flat fee set by the attorney (the licensed partner attorney who reviews your case) and paid to the attorney. It will vary by state. The design is that you pay it directly to the attorney and see it before you pay. |
| Court filing fees and service costs | At cost | What the court charges to file, and what it costs to serve the notice and the summons. These will be passed through at cost, with no markup. |
| Subscription or minimum | None | You pay per case. There is no monthly fee and no minimum number of cases. |
We do not take a share of the attorney’s fee.
Worked examples
Only the platform fees are real prices. The attorney fees, court fees and service costs below are illustrative: real figures depend on the state, the court and the attorney, and you receive them before any case starts.
A case that starts at the notice and goes to court
A nonpayment case. You will pay the notice fee when the case starts. The matter is not resolved, so the case goes to court: the notice fee will be credited and you will pay the difference.
| Item | Amount | Figure |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee, case that starts at the notice | $29 | Actual platform fee |
| Platform fee when the case goes to court, with the notice fee credited | $70 | Actual platform fee |

| Service of the summons (example) | $75 | Illustrative |

A case where the notice was already served
A nonpayment case that starts at filing because you served the notice yourself. You will pay the filing fee once.
| Item | Amount | Figure |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee, case filed in court | $99 | Actual platform fee |
| Attorney flat fee (example) | $350 | Illustrative |
